INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE 2018 [WIKI][TIME TABLE][FIXTURE][PLAYER LIST]

INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE

2018 LATEST RULES, MATCH FIXTURE ,SCHEDULE

The Indian Premier League (IPL), officially Vivo Indian Premier League for sponsorship reasons, is a professional Twenty20 cricketleague in India contested during April and May of every year by teams representing Indian cities. The league was founded by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2007, and is regarded as the brainchild of Lalit Modi, the founder and former commissioner of the league.[3] IPL has an exclusive window in ICC Future Tours Programme.[4]
The IPL is the most-attended cricket league in the world and ranks sixth among all sports leagues.[5] In 2010, the IPL became the first sporting event in the world to be broadcast live on YouTube.[6][7] The brand value of IPL in 2017 was US$5.3 billion, according to Duff & Phelps.[8] According to BCCI, the 2015 IPL season contributed ₹11.5 billion (US$182 million) to the GDP of the Indian economy.[9]
The current IPL title holders are the Mumbai Indians, who won the 2017 season.
SEASON 11 [2018]:-
The 2018 season of the Indian Premier League, also known as IPL 11, will be the eleventh season of the IPL, a professional Twenty20 cricket league established by the BCCI in 2007. The season, which will be held from 4 April to 27 May, will see the return of the Chennai Super Kings and the Rajasthan Royals after serving two years of suspension for the involvement of their respective owners in the 2013 IPL betting case.
Star Sports bagged the media rights at ₹16,347.5 crore ($2.55 billion) for five years starting from 2018.

FORMAT:-
Eight teams are scheduled to play in 2018. The tournament involves each team playing every other team twice in a home-and-away, double round-robin format. At the conclusion of the double round-robin league, the top four teams on the basis of aggregate points qualify for the playoffs. In this stage, the top two teams compete with each other (in a match titled "Qualifier 1"), as do the remaining two teams (in a match titled "Eliminator"). While the winner of Qualifier 1 directly qualifies for the final match, the losing team gets another chance to qualify for the final match by playing the winning team of the Eliminator match; this match is titled Qualifier 2. The winner of this subsequent Qualifier 2 match moves onto the final match. The team that wins the final match is crowned the Indian Premier League
.
LATEST CHANGES IN 2018:-
Mumbai: The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 could bring in a couple of big changes in as it is now learnt that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is keen to change the timing of the start of the matches.
Traditionally, the IPL games, when played in India, have either started at 4 P.M. or 8 P.M. However, IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla, during the IPL Governing Council’s meeting earlier this month, had floated a proposal of 7 P.M. start of the matches. However, the plan will only go through if the broadcasters Star Sports approve the proposal.

This is the same meeting after which it was emerged that the teams like Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) were averse to the idea of players’ retention, putting the MS Dhoni and co’s return to Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) in jeopardy.

“It was just a thought (starting game at 7pm) and everyone welcomed it but first we need to speak to broadcaster and take their nod. We will work on modalities then. There have been many centers where traveling is major concern. All the issues were discussed and we all thought to start the game but early,” IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.

Shukla also revealed that the IPL team owners have reacted positively to the idea mid-season player transfers.

If the idea is put into practice, a player can make a move to another IPL team during the season is he has not got an opportunity to play for a side even once during the first seven games for that side.

“Every IPL owner agreed to have this in forthcoming season. It will give chance to those players who are good but are not getting opportunities to be part of playing XI of any IPL side. We are having an IPL governing council meeting soon to finalize all these points,” added Shukla.
